Watching clips on TV and hearing people describe the scene as a volcanic explosion similar to Pompeii, it looks as if it is snowing, and by now the ash and rubble from the towers has piled up near ten stories high.

People seem angry, panicked and mostly disbelieving, standing on street corners or even in the middle of the streets staring at the billowing smoke which even now continues to fill the sky
